I had spring break off from school and Janine had business in Anchorage, so we decided to fly to Alaska, see friends, hop up to Fairbanks and stay at Chena Hot Springs in hopes of seeing the aurora borealis. We had a 50/50 chance of seeing the northern lights in one of the darkest places on earth. Unfortunately, there was a full moon out that night and no lights. It wasn’t a total bust, we visited the Aurora Ice Museum and the last weekend of the world-famous ice sculpture carving competition in Fairbanks. These photos are of the Alaska range as we flew into Fairbanks.

Still winter. That’s a frozen river on the way into Fairbanks.
