Devil’s Tower in western Wyoming is an amazing natural wonder that is considered a Native sacred place. Hiking around the tower, I got off the noisy tourist trail and found the less traversed outer ring. The walk was peaceful and I was able to spend time with the birds and the sound of the wind in the trees. This deer appeared in the road ahead and as I got out my camera, two doe appeared out from behind her. They spotted me as I slowly walked towards them. They did not run, but apparently sensed my calmness as we all walked towards each other. I stood on the edge of the trail as they walked by, each mindful of each other’s space, yet taking nothing for granted. This was a beautiful moment that could only be experienced on the road less travelled.
