The physical size of Alaska masks just how small this place really is. Last August I drove the “Haul Road” to Prudhoe Bay. This road is now the featured road on the latest season of “Ice Road Truckers.” I have been watching this show not to see the reality show crap, but to see all of the nature and dangerous conditions that exist on this road. It’s exciting to see these truckers struggling on a road on which I had an adventure (albeit during the summer).
Another example of how small this state really is, during last Saturday’s graduation ceremonies, I realized that the president of our Board of Trustees is the guy who owns the trucking company that is featured on this TV show – Carlisle Trucking. This state gets smaller and smaller every day.
