1463-Alaskan People – Anchorage, AK

We popped up to Anchorage, AK to see the start of the Iditarod dog sled race. It was still winter and real cold. I have always enjoyed walking around Anchorage at an event like this photographing the local wildlife. Half of these photos are real Alaskans in their native setting and the other half were costumed for the “Running of the  Caribou” race. They let hundreds of festive people run through the streets and then release fully horned caribou. It’s kind of like the running of the bulls but way less dangerous.
