517-Airport – Anchorage, AK

Anchorage, AK is one of the busiest cargo hubs in the world. Every UPS and FedEx plane arriving in the United States or traveling to Europe from China stops in Anchorage. Over 750 747 aircraft takeoff and land each week in Anchorage. These planes can carry more cargo if they only take on a half a tank of fuel in China. They land in Anchorage to fuel up before flying to the East coast or over the pole to Europe. There is also one of the largest Us Customs facilities for goods entering the US. Six days out of the week the 747s take off over the water but on Sundays they launch all of the 747s out over Anchorage. So every 15 minutes these is a 747 begging its way into the sky over the city. Makes for a noisy Sunday.
